Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Fishguard, working in secondary settings. The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, encouraging engagement, and adapting learning to meet ALN needs.

You will work with teachers and the inclusion team to promote emotional wellbeing, confidence, and positive behaviour, contributing to an inclusive school environment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Education, or a relevant subject.
• Previous experience supporting children or young people in an educational setting.
• Experience working with pupils with ALN is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of inclusive education and individualised support.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, resilient, and proactive approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support for pupils.
• Support learners with ALN across the curriculum.
• Work alongside teachers to adapt learning and encourage pupil engagement.
• Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, confidence, and independence.
• Assist with interventions and personalised learning activities.
• Promote positive behaviour and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
• Work closely with teaching staff and the wider inclusion/ALN team.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
