Job summary

Glasgow Prestwick Airport is seeking an Airfield Ground Lighting technician to perform routine maintenance, servicing and fault rectification of electrical and airfield systems within the AGL scope. The role supports safety-critical operations and collaborates with multiple departments to ensure compliant, well-documented processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and servicing of electrical systems across the airport, including Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) equipment and associated field installations.
• Maintain AGL competency.
• Liaise with contractors in the maintenance of specialist systems, including High Voltage (HV).
• Support the preparation, establishment and implementation of appropriate working procedures to ensure documented processes for all equipment.
• Maintain documentary records of all work in support of regulatory requirements examined by external authorities (CAA/SARG, HSE).
• Work with other departments within the airport as required.
• Support recruitment, training and development of future AGL trainees/apprentices.
• Respond to emergency incidents and assist as needed.
• Carry out other duties including during winter operations, diversions and events.
• Oversee and deliver project works delegated by Manager Air Traffic Engineering (MATE).
• Operate test and measuring equipment to assist in tasks.
• Perform administration to coordinate the AGL subset of the ATE department.
• Continue self-development to increase skill sets and knowledge base.

About The Role

Within your role you will carry out the duties associated with the Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) function of the Air Traffic Engineering (ATE) Department of Glasgow Prestwick Airport (GPA). This includes the routine maintenance servicing, support and fault rectification of a wide range of electrical and airfield systems and infrastructure within the airfield, airport buildings and its confines in line with departmental documentation, procedures and Safety Management System (SMS).

Within your role you will carry out the duties associated with the Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) function of the Air Traffic Engineering (ATE) Department of Glasgow Prestwick Airport (GPA). This includes the routine maintenance servicing, support and fault rectification of a wide range of electrical and airfield systems and infrastructure within the airfield, airport buildings and its confines in line with departmental documentation, procedures and Safety Management System (SMS).

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance and servicing of a wide range of electrical systems across the airport, including Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) equipment and associated field installations.
• Maintain AGL competency.

• Support the preparation, establishment and implementation of appropriate working procedures to ensure the provision of comprehensively documented processes for all equipment maintained.
• Maintain documentary records of all work in support of regulatory requirements examined by external authorities, for example: CAA/SARG, HSE.
• Work in conjunction with all other departments within the airport, as and when required.
• Work in conjunction with other Air Traffic Engineering department staff.
• Support in the recruitment, training and development of future AGL trainees/apprentices.
• Support in the response to emergency incidents, and to assist appropriately based on situation arising.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as required, including assistance during winter operations, diversions and special events.
• Oversee and deliver project works which will be delegated by Manager Air Traffic Engineering (MATE).
• To operate any item of test and measuring equipment required to assist in the aforementioned tasks.
• Perform such administration tasks necessary to contribute to the smooth, safe and efficient coordination of the AGL subset of the ATE department.
• Ensure continuation of self-development to increase skill sets and knowledge base specific to Airfield Ground Lighting systems.
• To efficiently conduct secondary duties as assigned by your department manager.
