Job summary

The Best Connection is seeking an Aircraft Ramp Agent for night shifts at East Midlands Airport (Castle Donington). You will load/unload cargo, operate ground equipment and ensure cargo safety while meeting tight deadlines.

Candidates should be able to pass a DBS check and medical requirements, and be willing to work unsociable hours. This temporary role offers ongoing assignments, overtime, and potential permanent placement after a successful trial period.

Qualifications

• Able to work in variable conditions including hot/cold weather or at heights.
• Experience in a similar ramp/handling role preferred.
• Able to stand long hours, climb stairs and lift cargo safely.
• Basic computer literacy for cargo records and checklists.
• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to undergo checks.

Responsibilities

• Safely lift, load, unload and transport mail and cargo from the aircraft to the building (working at heights).
• Perform sort, load, and unload activities and move material with speed and accuracy to meet deadlines.
• Protect cargo and other equipment from damage, loss and weather conditions.
• Drive and operate ground equipment, such as tugs, cargo carts, service trucks and belt loaders.
• Assist with record keeping and documentation to ensure correct routing of cargo.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions.

Aircraft Ramp Agent role - Nights

As an Aircraft Ramp Agent, you would be a crucial component to the success of the airport operations. Your tasks would involve loading and unloading aircraft's in all types of weather. As an Aircraft Ramp Agent your duties include processing time-sensitive materials for pick-up, transit, and delivery as well as sorting, loading, unloading, and material handling. • Pay: - £16.54, After midnight Fri £17.76 - £24.62 after 40 hours
• Duration: Temporary to Permanent!
• Hours: Monday to Friday - starting between 19:00 and 2100 and finishing as late as 05:30
• Shift pattern: Monday to Friday 2100 - 0530, 4 on 4 off nights or regular Saturday and Sunday 2100 - 0530

Responsibilities for Aircraft Ramp Agent

• Safely lift, load, unload and transport mail and cargo from the aircraft to the building (working at heights)

• Protect cargo and other equipment from damage, loss and weather conditions.
• Drive and operate ground equipment, such as tugs, cargo carts, service trucks and belt loaders.
• Assist with record keeping and documentation to ensure correct routing of cargo.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions for yourself and others.
• Communicate with managers and lead agents to manage daily schedules.
• Report equipment problems and breakdowns to facilitate fast repairs.

Qualifications for Aircraft Ramp Agent

• Able to work in extreme conditions, such as hot and cold weather, as well as small spaces.
• Experience of working on a similar role is preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop and climb stairs/ladders working at heights.
• Familiarity with basic computer programs to assist with cargo's record keeping.
• Possess a valid driver's license and no points.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to help achieve team goals.
• Being able willing to work unsocial shifts.
• Adaptability to changing priorities and time management skills.
• Pass a Medical assessment and be able to pass a drug screen.
• Physically fit and able to lift 25kg unaided.
• Confident at working at heights.
• 5 year Background and Security check pass.
• Be willing to apply for a DBS Check (Paid for by us!).
• Be willing to attend an Aviation Cargo Operative Course (Paid for by us!).
