Airbus - Head of Environmental, Health & Safety

Job Description: Subject to the successful closing of the transaction with Spirit, after obtaining relevant regulatory approvals.

Job Summary: Airbus is seeking a Head of Environmental Health & Safety to lead and manage the implementation of effective environmental health and safety systems within the organization. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker capable of developing and executing plans to minimize risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a positive work culture that values employee well-being and sustainability.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement comprehensive environmental health and safety policies, procedures, and programs aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  2. Lead and manage a team of EH&S professionals, providing guidance, support, and resources for effective performance.
  3. Monitor and analyze trends in EH&S regulations and technologies, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing proactive measures.
  4. Collaborate with departments such as operations, engineering, and HR to integrate EH&S considerations into all business operations.
  5. Conduct audits and inspections to identify noncompliance areas and recommend improvements.
  6. Prepare and present reports on EH&S initiatives and progress to senior management.
  7. Identify emerging EH&S risks and develop strategies to address them.
  8. Promote a culture of safety and sustainability organization-wide, engaging employees at all levels.
  9. Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups, ensuring transparency.
  10. Stay informed on legislative and regulatory changes, adjusting strategies accordingly.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety Engineering or related field.
  • NEBOSH Diploma.
  • Extensive experience in EH&S management, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and driving organizational change.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to balance short-term needs with long-term strategic goals.
  • Knowledge of international EH&S standards such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
  • Familiarity with EH&S regulations across multiple countries.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
