Job summary

First Choice Staff in Cannock is seeking an experienced Road Freight Operator to coordinate nightly transport operations, including export/import, documentation and customs clearance. You will work with warehouse and transport teams to maximise capacity and ensure timely departures and arrivals.

The role requires hands-on experience in road freight export, strong organisation, and knowledge of TMS and UK customs procedures. This is a night shift role from 18:00 to 02:00 in the Cannock area.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within road freight export operations.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
• Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Knowledge of UK customs procedures and international freight movements.
• Experience with export documentation and customs processes.
• ASM Sequoia knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nightly transport, export and import operations, ensuring timely departures, arrivals, trailer movements and trunking.
• Plan and optimise export trailer loads with warehouse and transport teams to maximise capacity, efficiency and service levels.
• Prepare and process transport documentation, including manifests, load lists and EDI transmissions
• Prepare and verify UK customs/export documentation, including CMRs, invoices, packing lists, GMRs, ENS, ELOs and PBNs.
• Support out-of-hours import processing, trailer releases and customs clearance, ensuring compliance with customs legislation and company procedures.
• Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies, damages, inventory issues and customs queries, escalating where required.
• Maintain accurate shipment, planning and operational data within the TMS
• Produce operational reports

ROAD IMPORT / EXPORT / CUSTOMS CLEARANCE / LOOGISTICS /TRANSPORT PLANNING

This is a great opportunity for an experienced ROAD FREIGHT OPERATOR to join a busy logistics organisation to support the night operations.
