Job summary

Expeditors in Birmingham seeks an Air Import Clerk to ensure timely and accurate freight movement and information flow, delivering exceptional customer service within the Air Import Department.

You will track imports, perform data entry, and coordinate with customers and brokers to keep shipments compliant with OPS and regulations. This role reports to the Air Import Supervisor/Manager and offers growth through training and internal opportunities.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Understanding of air documentation process a plus
• IATA certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate movement of freight and information within the Air Import Department
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers
• Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow
• Enter data accurately into operating system and keep records up to date
• Track and trace Air Import files as required
• Use Workflows on daily basis to manage tasks
• Ensure timely delivery of freight to customers for Import shipments
• Ensure documents are sent to customer or broker for customs purposes
• Ensure accurate and timely client and service provider billing
• Interact with customers to arrange international shipments and meet service standards
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers (airlines, trucking companies, etc.)
• Comply with OPS and external regulations and customer policies
• Understand department process flow and seek efficiency improvements
• Follow and update customers' standard operating procedures
• Meet KPI standards as per company procedures
• Oversee timely communications and responses (internal and external)
