Job summary

Right Now Group is recruiting an Air Export Clerk to join their Heathrow-area freight forwarder. The role covers start-to-finish Air Export shipments with potential cross-training into Sea Freight, reporting to the Export Director. You will handle quotations, bookings, and customs documentation in a busy export environment.

They primarily operate Air Freight (about 80%), with opportunities to expand Sea Freight experience and work within a close-knit, family-run team.

Qualifications

• Experience in Air Export Freight Forwarding is essential.
• Proven ability to handle shipments from quotation to documentation.
• Good understanding of export customs procedures.
• DG training advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage Air Export shipments from start to finish.
• Handle Back-to-Back and Consolidation shipments.
• Coordinate exports predominantly into Vietnam.
• Prepare freight quotations for customers and overseas agents.
• Make airline bookings and coordinate shipment movements.
• Complete Export customs declarations using Descartes.
• Prepare and check all relevant Air Export documentation.
• Manage shipment files using Cargo Forwarder.
• Liaise with airlines, handling agents, overseas agents, hauliers and customers.
• Monitor shipments through to departure and provide proactive updates.
• Ensure documentation and shipment information is accurate and completed within required deadlines.
• Support Sea Export shipments following training.

Job description

Right Now Group are recruiting for an Air Export Clerk to join a successful, independent and family-run Freight Forwarder within the Heathrow area.

Our client operates a busy Export department handling approximately 260 international exports per month and has a particularly strong presence within the UK-Vietnam freight market. Around 80% of their operation is Air Freight, with the remaining 20% Sea Freight.

This is a genuine start-to-finish Air Export position, giving you ownership of shipments from initial quotation and booking through to customs clearance and final documentation. You will join a close-knit Export team, reporting directly into the Export Director.

The company is predominantly looking for Air Freight experience but is happy to cross-train the successful candidate on Sea Freight.

Key Responsibilities of an Air Export Clerk

• Manage Air Export shipments from start to finish
• Handle both Back-to-Back and Consolidation shipments
• Coordinate exports predominantly into Vietnam

Skills & Experience Required for an Air Export Clerk

• Previous Air Export Freight Forwarding experience
• Experience managing Air Export shipments from start to finish
• Good understanding of Export customs procedures
• Experience with Consolidations and Back-to-Back shipments advantageous
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Confident communicating with customers, overseas agents, airlines and suppliers
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines within a busy Export environment
• Dangerous Goods / DG training would be advantageous but is not essential
• Descartes experience beneficial
• Cargo Forwarder experience advantageous but not essential
• Sea Freight experience is not required as cross-training can be provided

Salary & Benefits for an Air Export Clerk

• £30,000 - £36,000 depending on experience
