Job summary

FM Search & Select Ltd in Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer ready to advance into a Contracts Manager role. The position blends hands-on site duties with office-based responsibilities and offers mentoring from an established management team.

You will work across commercial sites, gain exposure to surveying, quoting, planning and contract management while continuing to work on the tools part of the week. The role includes overtime and on-call earnings.

Qualifications

• Strong background as an Air Conditioning Engineer.
• Experience servicing, maintaining and fault-finding on commercial air conditioning systems.
• F-Gas qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive air conditioning maintenance, servicing and repairs across commercial sites.
• Support the Contracts Manager with the day-to-day running of air conditioning maintenance contracts.
• Attend site surveys to assess works and identify client requirements.
• Prepare smaller quotations for repairs, remedial works and additional works.
• Assist with planning and coordinating engineering activities.
• Liaise with clients, engineers and suppliers to ensure works are delivered efficiently.
• Support the management of ongoing maintenance and reactive works.
• Provide cover for the Contracts Manager during periods of annual leave.
• Assist with technical queries and provide support to engineers when required.
• Gain exposure to contract management, client relationships and the commercial aspects of the business.
• Participate in the on-call rota, with opportunities to earn additional income.

FM Search & Select are recruiting for an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer who is looking to take the next step in their career and develop into a management position.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong AC Engineer who enjoys being hands-on but is keen to gain experience in the commercial and operational side of running air conditioning contracts.

Working alongside an established management team, you'll have the opportunity to learn the responsibilities of a Contracts Manager while continuing to work on the tools for part of the week.

The role will be split between site-based engineering duties and office-based responsibilities, with a few days each week spent on the tools and the remainder based at our client's Edinburgh office.

What We're Looking For

• A strong background as an Air Conditioning Engineer is essential.
• Experience servicing, maintaining and fault-finding on commercial air conditioning systems.
• F-Gas qualification.
• Good technical knowledge of air conditioning and HVAC systems.
• Confident communicating with clients and colleagues.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Comfortable using computers and learning office-based systems.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities.
• Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Full UK driving licence.

You don't need to have worked as a Contracts Manager before. We're looking for an experienced AC Engineer with the right attitude, technical ability and ambition to develop into this type of role.
