An established and reputable HVAC contractor specialising in rail and critical infrastructure projects is looking to recruit an experienced Mobile Air Conditioning Service Engineer to join their growing London-based service team.
This is a mobile, service-focused role covering central London and surrounding areas, working across high-profile and technically interesting sites. A large proportion of the work is within the railway environment, with full rail training, competencies, and certification provided.
As a Service Engineer, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and minor planned works across a range of critical and high-profile sites including signal centres, data centres, stations, maintenance depots, train care depots, and remote track-side locations.
The role involves servicing and maintaining a variety of HVAC and mechanical systems such as split systems, VRV / VRF, chillers, AHUs, LTHW, chilled water, and ventilation plant. The position is predominantly service and maintenance focused; engineers are not typically required to undertake installation works.
Salary: Up to £40,000-£45,000
Overtime: Time and a half. Double time for nights and bank holidays.
On‑call rota: 1 week in every 8 (approx.), £125 standby payment per week. Minimum 4 hours paid per call‑out.
Working hours: Door‑to‑door working. 9.5‑hour minimum day. 30 minutes unpaid travel each way + 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
Holiday: 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays plus an additional birthday day off.
Company van & fuel card, company smartphone (used for calls, emails, and electronic job management system), specialist refrigeration tools provided.
Minimum City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 / Part 2 in Air Conditioning.
F‑Gas certification (essential)
Proven service experience on HVAC systems such as splits, VRVs, chillers, AHUs, LTHW, or chilled water.
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to work across London and attend rail / track‑side locations (training provided).
Ability to supply hand tools, including:
Certifications are advantageous but not essential.
Overtime is expected as part of the role; occasional Saturdays or nights may be required, though not frequently. Adequate rest periods are always provided.
Railway medical, drugs & alcohol screening, and DVLA licence check are required prior to any formal job offer.
