Job summary

CommonAI CIC is seeking engineers to advance an AI systems simulator that quantifies uncertainty. You will calibrate models against measurements, test predictions on new cases and embed uncertainty analysis into the simulation workflow.

The role welcomes those with systems engineering experience or expertise in mathematical modelling applied to AI infrastructure. You will work with measurement and workload engineers, design experiments to reduce uncertainty that matters for decisions, and

Qualifications

• Mathematical maturity: reason about models, data, variation and assumptions behind quantitative claims.
• Software engineering experience to turn numerical methods into readable, reusable tools.
• Experience in AI systems, HPC or related fields and testing against experiments.
• Knowledge of uncertainty methods or modelling is valued but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement methods to calibrate simulator models against measurements and evaluate predictions.
• Distinguish uncertainty from measurements, model assumptions, parameters, and operational variation.
• Analyse sensitivity and uncertainty in comparisons between alternatives.
• Develop outputs showing uncertainty, possible ranking changes, and evidence limits.
• Collaborate with measurement and workload engineers to design experiments reducing uncertainty.
• Integrate methods into repeatable simulation workflows and communicate assumptions to engineers.
