Job summary

CommonAI CIC in Cambridge is seeking a software engineer to build and integrate simulation components for AI infrastructure comparisons. You will work with workload models and measurement datasets to produce reproducible results and insights.

You will evaluate existing frameworks, design clear interfaces and extend simulations across hardware and software components. Depth in simulation, systems software and performance modelling is welcome.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering experience across large codebases.
• Experience with simulation or performance modelling tools.
• Ability to understand unfamiliar code and design clean interfaces.
• Collaborative mindset and testing discipline.
• Experience using AI coding agents is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate simulation components for AI infra comparisons.
• Evaluate and extend existing frameworks with clear interfaces.
• Model system state and resource usage across components.
• Build reproducible scenarios, diagnostics and tests.
• Collaborate with measurement teams to compare predictions with data.
• Maintain reliable software, docs and development workflows.
