Job summary

CommonAI CIC is seeking a senior engineering lead to build and steer a simulation platform for AI inference systems. You will integrate realistic workloads, hardware models and measurements to predict performance and quantify uncertainty for stakeholders.

You will report to the SIL Scientific Director and line-manage engineers, shaping recruitment and delivering an implementable architecture and roadmap. A strong track record in large-scale software/hardware projects is essential.

Qualifications

• Substantial industrial engineering experience delivering complex software or hardware/software systems.
• Depth in at least one of systems simulation, computer architecture, distributed or HPC systems, inference serving.
• Proven ability to lead people through difficult technical work and mentor colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Own the simulator codebase and translate scientific goals into an engineering roadmap.
• Assess existing simulators and interfaces; decide what to reuse, extend or build.
• Shape recruitment, mentor engineers and line-manage the team across software, modelling and hardware.
• Ensure simulator predictions are validated against physical measurements with explicit uncertainty.
• Establish engineering practices for maintainable software and reproducible experiments.
• Contribute to implementation and debugging when coverage is incomplete.
