Job summary

Mimecast Limited is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Email & Collaboration Threat Protection in London. You will lead one or more engineering squads, owning delivery, quality, and team growth in a fast-paced, security-focused environment.

You will mentor engineers, set goals, and maintain high standards for secure, observable, and scalable systems while aligning with product priorities and AI-augmented development initiatives.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development with progressive engineering leadership responsibilities.
• 2+ years in engineering management leading a team of engineers.
• Experience with high-availability, mission-critical distributed systems.
• Hands-on software engineering background for credible technical leadership.
• Experience with microservices, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and containerization.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and observability tooling.
• Experience partnering with Product Management to drive roadmap execution.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• AI fluency or strong enthusiasm for AI-augmented development.
• Experience in email security, messaging infrastructure, or cybersecurity product development.
• SaaS multi-tenant architecture background.
• Engineering or Computer Science degree.

Responsibilities

• Own squad delivery with accountability for delivery outcomes and day-to-day execution.
• Line-manage, coach, and grow engineers; conduct regular one-to-ones and development plans.
• Uphold high standards for code quality, observability, and secure development practices.
• Translate roadmap into credible delivery plans and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Drive AI-augmented development and governance of responsible AI usage.
• Partner with Product Management, Security, and Operations to align priorities and roadmap.
• Ensure reliability and performance of services; maintain on-call rotation and incident follow-through.
• Contribute to hiring, interview processes, and building a high-performing team.
