Job summary

Proton.ai in Cambridge, United Kingdom is seeking a UI Product Designer to shape how Proton looks and works. You will ship in a squad with PMs and engineers, and you'll be in front of customers to learn from their use and bring back insights.

You will build an AI-native UI, own the design system across four products, and prototype in real code using Claude Code and Cursor. This role blends craft, systems thinking, and close customer collaboration.

Qualifications

• Craft demonstrating typography, layout, color, hierarchy, and iconography and autonomy in taste; AI amplifies, not creates it.
• Real end-to-end delivery with shipped products and ownership; hands-on work with PM and engineering.
• Daily, hands-on use of AI tools (Claude Code or Cursor) to ship real work.
• A portfolio showing end-to-end delivery with own visual language.
• Systems thinking: write rules for many screens and reuse.
• Experience in agile/scrum and customer-facing work; adapt to agentic scrum.

Responsibilities

• Prototype in code with Claude Code or Cursor to feel interactions before committing.
• Own the design system: components, interactions, documentation, and adoption across squads.
• Define AI visuals and interactions, decide how reps trust and override agents.
• Work within our agentic scrum; shape design in a flexible cadence.
• Interact with customers onsite to observe usage and gather feedback.
