Job summary

Pacific Life Re invites an experienced Security Engineering Manager to lead the design and delivery of security capabilities across the organisation. You will own AI-enabled security products and collaborate with IT, risk and engineering teams to drive secure by design practices.

The role requires hands-on expertise across cyber security domains, cloud, identity, governance and secure development, with a track record of measurable risk reduction.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of cybersecurity roles, preferably in finance services or insurance.
• Broad knowledge of security domains: network security, endpoint protection, Secure development lifecycle, identity and access management, cloud security (AWS/Azure), incident response, and governance.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management tools, and cloud-native security services.
• Demonstrable experience applying AI, ML or LLMs to security use cases with measurable outcomes.
• Experience in a product delivery model – backlog/roadmap management, agile delivery, and value measurement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the implementation of security projects.
• Review, maintain and configure security tooling across the organisation.
• Evaluate and enhance security controls, policies, and procedures.
• Perform risk assessments and communicate risk exposure to technology and business owners.
• Provide technical security consultancy to projects.
• Engage with risk, legal, privacy, data governance and enterprise architecture.
• Provide secure by design guidance (attack mapping, threat modelling).
• Coordinate remediation after vulnerability assessments.
• Collaborate with DevOps and IT to integrate security into design and development lifecycles.
• Support compliance efforts (SOC 2, ISO 27001) through documentation and testing.
• Share knowledge and promote security awareness.
