Job summary

Currys in London is seeking an Engineering Lead to own a greenfield analytics data platform and lead a team of onshore and offshore analytics engineers. You will set the roadmap with stakeholders, drive scalable data products, and improve margins through data-driven initiatives.

The role requires strong SQL and Python, experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks/Snowflake/BigQuery), and expertise in modern data tooling (dbt/Dataform) and orchestration (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or related fields.
• Proficiency with modern data transformation tools such as dbt or Dataform.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Knowledge of data orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
• Awareness of how GenAI tools can accelerate data modeling and provisioning.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve our data architecture, enabling domain-driven ownership and self-serve analytics capabilities across the organisation.
• Manage a team of onshore and offsite analytics engineers, providing mentorship and technical guidance while fostering a high-performing culture.
• Help inform the vision and roadmap for our modern metrics stack, focusing on scalability, reliability, and governance, partnering with engineering and product teams.
• Champion data quality initiatives, implementing validation frameworks and observability tools to ensure trustworthy analytics.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of data transformation code, ensuring efficiency and documentation.
• Ruthlessly prioritise efforts to improve efficiency and margin.
