Job summary

Currys London Campus at Waterloo is hiring for a Data & AI Engineer to help build scalable data pipelines and AI-powered tools across trading, supply chain and stores. You’ll partner with product managers, engineers and platform teams to deliver reliable data features and agent-driven capabilities.

The role sits in Tech and Transformation, combining modern data platforms with Databricks, Terraform and cloud services. A hybrid working model applies with in-person collaboration 2–4 times a month.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building production-grade data pipelines at scale.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with hands-on data processing frameworks.
• Experience with Azure or GCP and containerisation technologies.
• Knowledge of streaming architectures and event-driven data flows.
• Infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proven troubleshooting skills and root-cause analysis.
• Experience with Databricks or Snowflake or similar data tools.
• Interest or experience in AI-powered solutions with Databricks Agent Bricks.
• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Cloud certifications are desirable; DevOps/Data/AI certifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines that process billions of events daily.
• Develop AI-powered solutions including intelligent agents using Databricks Agent Bricks.
• Set up infrastructure as code for data and AI platforms, keeping systems scalable.
• Create monitoring and alerting systems that protect data quality and model performance.
• Optimize data processing jobs to improve performance and reduce costs.
• Partner with product and domain teams to deliver new data features and agent-driven tools.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for data and AI applications.
• Troubleshoot production issues and apply permanent fixes to recurring problems.
• Contribute to shared engineering standards and best practices across the team.
