Job summary

The AA is seeking an AI Delivery & Operations Lead in London, operating within a hybrid model. You will shape how the AI Centre of Excellence functions daily, creating structure, momentum and disciplined execution that translates ambitious ideas into measurable outcomes.

Working with the Director of AI and leadership team, you’ll connect priorities, people, investment and activity across the AI portfolio and beyond to resolve blockers and drive impact.

Qualifications

• Ability to own outcomes in complex organisations with cross-boundary accountability.
• Strong structured thinking and problem solving to turn ambiguity into action.
• Experience with budgets, forecasts, Capex and Opex, business cases and investments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and clear communication with senior leaders.
• Proven operational discipline, managing multiple priorities and dependencies.
• Solid understanding of AI applications and evolving technology trends.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day operational rhythm of the AI Centre of Excellence and keep priorities visible.
• Maintain a clear view across the AI portfolio including milestones, capacity, dependencies and value.
• Own portfolio budgeting, forecasting, Capex/Opex, investment tracking and trade-off decisions.
• Turn emerging priorities into structured recommendations, plans and actions for senior leadership.
• Act as a connector across AI, Technology and the wider business, resolving blockers.
• Continuously improve processes, tools and ways of working to scale the Centre of Excellence.

This is a rare opportunity to play a central role in how AI takes shape across one of the UK’s most recognised brands. As our AI Delivery & Operations Lead, you’ll help make our AI Centre of Excellence work effectively day to day, creating the structure, momentum and operational discipline that turns ambitious ideas into action and measurable outcomes.

Working closely with our Director of AI and wider AI leadership team, you’ll operate across the AI portfolio, connecting priorities, people, investment and activity. One week you could be developing a recommendation to support a senior decision, the next resolving a blocker across several teams, interrogating a forecast or taking ownership of an emerging initiative that does not yet have a natural home.

This isn’t a traditional technology project or programme management role. You’ll need strong delivery discipline, but what matters most is how you think and operate: your ability to create clarity from ambiguity, structure problems, exercise good judgement, influence without authority and follow things through to an outcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the day to day operational rhythm of our AI Centre of Excellence, ensuring priorities, decisions, actions and dependencies remain visible and continue moving forward
• Maintain a clear view across the AI portfolio, connecting priorities, milestones, capacity, dependencies, funding, risks and expected value to support effective decision making
• Own portfolio budget management and financial coordination, including forecasting, Capex and Opex, investment tracking and identifying where financial decisions or trade offs are required
• Turn emerging priorities and ambiguous problems into structured recommendations, plans and actions, producing concise and insightful materials that enable effective senior leadership decisions
• Act as a connector across AI, Technology and the wider business, identifying gaps, resolving blockers and taking ownership of cross functional initiatives where additional structure, momentum or leadership is needed
• Continuously improve the processes, tools and ways of working that enable the AI Centre of Excellence to operate effectively and scale as its remit grows

What Do I Need?

You’ll Bring

• A strong track record of taking ownership and delivering outcomes within complex organisations, particularly where priorities are ambiguous, accountability crosses organisational boundaries and progress depends on influencing without direct authority
• Excellent structured thinking and problem solving capability, with the judgement to make sense of unclear priorities, challenge constructively and turn emerging issues into practical recommendations, plans and actions
• Strong commercial and financial literacy, with experience working across budgets, forecasts, Capex and Opex, business cases, investment decisions or financial trade offs
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the credibility to work confidently with senior leaders, navigate organisational complexity and translate complex information into clear recommendations and decisions
• Strong operational and delivery discipline, able to manage multiple priorities, dependencies and commitments while continuously improving processes and ways of working rather than relying on process for its own sake
• Strong AI and technology literacy, with an understanding of how organisations are applying AI, the opportunities and challenges involved and the curiosity to continue developing your knowledge as the technology evolves
