The AA is seeking an experienced AI Solution Architect to join our London hybrid team, shaping the architecture for the next generation of AI-powered products and services. You will be the technical authority guiding secure, scalable AI solutions and collaborating with Engineering, Data, Product and Security to deliver production-ready platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as a Solutions Architect or similar, delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions.
• Experience designing AI or Generative AI solutions with depth to explain how components work together.
• Strong knowledge of modern AI architecture including LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation, embeddings and vector search.
• Excellent architecture judgement with ability to articulate design decisions, trade-offs and risks.
• Experience designing secure, scalable cloud-native architectures in Azure or AWS with API/data/integration focus.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication across engineering, product, data and security.

Artificial Intelligence is transforming how organisations operate, and at The AA we are building the architecture that will power the next generation of intelligent products, services and internal capabilities. We are looking for an experienced AI Solution Architect who combines strong enterprise architecture fundamentals with practical knowledge of modern AI and Generative AI.

This is a genuinely hands on architecture role. You’ll design secure, scalable and production ready AI solutions, making and articulating key technology decisions while remaining close to engineering teams throughout design and delivery. You won’t need to be an AI Engineer or Machine Learning specialist, but you will need the technical depth to understand how technologies such as Large Language Models, Retrieval Augmented Generation, embeddings, vector search and AI agents come together to solve real business problems.

Working across Engineering, Data, Product and Security, you’ll act as a technical authority for AI architecture while building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders. You’ll help shape how AI is adopted responsibly and effectively across The AA, balancing innovation with security, scalability, resilience and long-term maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end to end AI and Generative AI solution architectures that are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned with business outcomes and enterprise standards
• Translate complex business challenges into pragmatic AI solutions, selecting appropriate technologies and architectural patterns and clearly articulating the rationale, trade-offs and risks behind your decisions
• Design solutions using modern AI patterns including Retrieval Augmented Generation, Large Language Models, embeddings and vector search, AI agents, orchestration and enterprise integration
• Work closely with Engineering, Data, Product and Security throughout design, build and implementation, providing hands on architectural guidance and resolving technical challenges as solutions move towards production
• Act as a technical authority for AI architecture, ensuring solutions balance innovation with security, governance, Responsible AI, operational resilience and long-term maintainability
• Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to reusable AI reference architectures, design patterns and standards that enable AI capabilities to scale consistently across The AA

What Do I Need?

You’ll Bring

• Strong experience as a Solutions Architect, Technical Architect or similar, designing and delivering complex enterprise scale technology solutions, with a hands-on approach that keeps you close to engineering and delivery
• Practical experience designing AI or Generative AI solutions, with the technical depth to explain how different components work together and why particular technologies, patterns and architectural approaches were selected
• Strong working knowledge of modern AI architecture, including Large Language Models, Retrieval Augmented Generation, embeddings and vector search, AI agents and orchestration, with the ability to design how these components work together within production ready solutions
• Strong architecture judgement, with the ability to evaluate technology options and clearly articulate design decisions, trade-offs and risks across areas including scalability, cost, performance, security and long-term maintainability
• Experience designing secure, scalable and resilient cloud native architectures within Azure, AWS or comparable environments, with strong knowledge of APIs and integration, data, observability, governance, operational resilience and Responsible AI
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the credibility to operate across Engineering, Product, Data, Security and senior business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts and influencing technology decisions and the wider AI roadmap
