Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking a Data Science & AI Delivery Lead to drive day-to-day AI delivery across strategic projects and use cases. You will work hands-on in the codebase, shape designs, and ensure high-quality, on-time outcomes with strong stakeholder engagement.

You will lead a growing team of Data Scientists and AI Engineers, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with the Head of Data Science & AI Delivery to align strategies, budgets, and roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering AI/ML solutions from concept through production.
• Strong Python expertise with scikit-learn, pandas, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Hands-on Databricks experience including MLflow and Spark.
• Familiar with Generative AI concepts: prompt engineering, RAG, vector search.
• Solid MLOps knowledge: CI/CD, testing, monitoring.
• Cloud experience on Azure: Azure OpenAI / ML services.
• Experience leading technical delivery teams and fostering high-performance culture.
• Excellent communication with business stakeholders.
• Strong project management: estimation, planning, deadlines.
• Proactive, independent leader who can fill leadership gaps.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day execution and coordination of data science and AI delivery across projects.
• Directly manage design, build, test, and deployment of AI solutions across concurrent initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance on solution design, model selection, and architecture decisions.
• Review code and contribute hands-on Python development during critical phases.
• Support Generative AI delivery, including RAG and Azure AI integrations.
• Ensure robust MLOps practices: versioning, pipelines, monitoring.
• Champion engineering best practices across the team: code reviews, docs, Git.
• Collaborate with Business Tech Solutions and Program Office for planning and delivery.
• Mentor and develop a growing team of Data Scientists and AI Engineers.
• Plan resources and costs; manage priorities and capacity.
• Stay current with AI landscape and lead PoCs.
• Represent Head of Data Science & AI Delivery in meetings when required.
