The Open Data Institute is seeking a Researcher (AI and quantitative) in London, combining AI method development with data governance and policy insights. The role emphasizes data-centric AI, benchmark creation and model evaluation within a hybrid work environment.

You will contribute to research outputs, including technical reports, literature reviews and reproducible code, while collaborating with external partners and stakeholders to influence data readiness in public and private sectors.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in scoping and planning research projects.
• Experience with qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods.
• Familiarity with research integrity, open science and FAIR principles.
• Ability to design, run and interpret experiments evaluating AI models.
• Experience communicating complex research to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead research activities within projects and deliver on tight timeframes.
• Design and run rigorous experiments to evaluate model performance.
• Oversee corpus construction, ground-truth curation and evaluation harnesses.
• Coordinate with partners and clients to scope and deliver work.
• Contribute to business development and proposal writing.
• Communicate findings through reports, blogs and policy briefings.
