Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is seeking a Data Center IT Engineer to support a flagship AI data centre in Newcastle. The role focuses on operating GPU servers, storage platforms and HPC infrastructure powering large-scale AI workloads, training and inference.

You will monitor production environments, troubleshoot Linux, hardware and networking issues, and coordinate hardware replacements and upgrades in a fast-growing AI environment in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience within a data center, cloud, hosting, colocation, HPC or large scale infrastructure environment
• Racking, stacking and cabling experience
• Hands on experience with enterprise server hardware and storage systems
• Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, switching and data center infrastructure
• Experience supporting mission critical production environments
• Experience working within operational support, infrastructure engineering or data center operations teams
• Exposure to NVIDIA GPUs, InfiniBand, RoCEv2, AI infrastructure or HPC environments would be highly beneficial

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain GPU servers, storage platforms and high performance compute infrastructure
• Monitor the health, availability and performance of production environments
• Troubleshoot Linux, hardware, networking and infrastructure related issues
• Support incident response, root cause analysis and service restoration activities
• Coordinate hardware replacements, maintenance windows and vendor activities
• Support rack integrations, infrastructure upgrades and capacity expansion projects
