Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting two permanent, full-time Senior Allied Health Professional Support Workers to join the inpatient Trauma & Orthopaedic Therapy team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Wonford site in Exeter.

The role focuses on providing therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation for patients following trauma or orthopaedic procedures, with fortnightly shift patterns and a commitment to discharge planning and falls

Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, treatments and exercise programmes to patients.
  • Liaise with patients and family/carers in discharge planning and prevention of falls.
  • Identify and support physical limitations to aid rehabilitation and early routine assessments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute and community settings; caseload includes trauma, orthopaedic rehabilitation.
  • Support both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy on a daily basis.

If so, then look no further, an exciting opportunity has arisen for someone motivated and compassionate to join our dedicated inpatient Trauma & Orthopaedic Therapy team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, based on the main Royal Devon & Exeter hospital site (Wonford). We have two permanent, full-time (37.5 hours) Senior Allied Health Professional Support Worker positions available.

This role involves providing a range of therapeutic interventions, treatments and exercise programmes to patients and liaising with patients and family / carers in discharge planning and prevention of falls.

The post-holder will be expected to identify and support the physical limitations of a patients disability and their functional problems to support the therapy team to deliver early routine assessments and rehabilitation. There will be a requirement to develop strong links with the multidisciplinary teams working in the acute and community settings. The caseload will primarily be patients recovering from traumatic injury who require rehabilitation to support them to be discharged home or to their normal place of residence but will also include those recovering from planned orthopaedic surgery. There will be a strong Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy focus within the role and an expectation to support both professions on a daily basis.

The role requires a fortnightly working pattern.

Week A: Monday Friday 08:15-16:30

Week B: Tuesday Saturday 08:15-16:30

Bank holidays will be allocated on a rota basis. The post holder will work flexibly in other areas of Physiotherapy if required.
