Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking an Assistant Practitioner to support the Allied Health Professions Medical Team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The role focuses on assessing patients, supporting Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, and improving patient flow on medical wards.

Training and supervision will be provided to develop competency; sponsorship eligibility will be assessed in line with Home Office requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare environment.
• Understanding of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy interventions.
• Ability to work independently within defined competency frameworks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of patient-centred care principles.
• Ability to undertake both clinical and non-clinical tasks as delegated.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Support the AHP Medical Team and be delegated clinical and non-clinical duties by Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff.
• Work under guidance within defined intervention plans to support patients on medical wards.
• Promote safe and effective care to improve patient outcomes and hospital flow.
• Maintain close communication with the wider multidisciplinary team while working independently within agreed parameters.
