NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking an Assistant Practitioner to support the Allied Health Professions Medical Team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The role focuses on assessing patients, supporting Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, and improving patient flow on medical wards.

Training and supervision will be provided to develop competency; sponsorship eligibility will be assessed in line with Home Office requirements.

The Role

We are seeking an Assistant Practitioner to support the Allied Health Professions (AHP) Medical Team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH). This role will support the Specialist Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist within the team, helping to assess patients within medical wards to improve patient flow, prevent unnecessary admissions, and reduce delays in discharge. Training, supervision, and ongoing support will be provided to enable the post holder to work within agreed competency levels. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

• Tenure: Permanent post.
• Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH)
• Work Pattern: 5 days over 7

Key Responsibilities

You will work as part of the AHP Medical Team and will be delegated appropriate clinical and non-clinical duties by professionally qualified Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff. Working under guidance and within defined intervention plans, the Assistant Practitioner will provide support to patients on medical wards, promoting safe and effective care to improve patient outcomes and hospital flow. The role requires the ability to work independently with patients within agreed parameters while maintaining close communication with the wider multidisciplinary team.
