Job summary

Cummins is seeking an enthusiastic Aftertreatment Integration Development student for the CES ONHWY Performance team in Darlington. The placement year starts Summer 2027 and is 100% onsite, offering hands-on experience in engine and aftertreatment development within a global engineering environment.

You will work on catalyst and hardware selection, perform performance evaluation, tuning and data analysis, and support lab and field testing across a development cycle.

Qualifications

  • Candidate studying towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or STEM subjects.
  • Good knowledge of MATLAB and MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • Methodical, data-based problem solving with strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Diesel engine or Aftertreatment architecture is an advantage.
  • Placement is 100% onsite in Darlington with Summer 2027 start.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Value Package Introduction process to bring engine and aftertreatment systems to market.
  • Procure and manage prototype and controls lab inventory and shipments.
  • Produce test instructions, scripts and logging files for engine testing and field tests.
  • Contribute to design reviews with requirements, tuning rationale and test results.
  • Simulate performance using MATLAB/Simulink and evaluate sensor/actuator performance.
  • Assist with vehicle testing, data logging, and equipment setup and troubleshooting.
