Job summary

Cummins is seeking an enthusiastic Aftertreatment Integration Test Engineering student for a placement in Darlington, UK. The role is 100% onsite and targets a Summer 2027 start, offering exposure to a global engineering organization and hands-on testing experience in diesel engine aftertreatment development.

You will learn how Cummins operates, work across test cells, and gain real-world skills in hardware setup, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration within the CES ONHWY Performance

Qualifications

• Studying towards a Bachelors or Masters in Engineering or STEM subjects.
• Proficient with MS Excel and Word.
• Methodical and data-based approach to problem solving; strong teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Interpret test requests for Euro VI and Stage V diesel engine and aftertreatment development testing; write test instructions and logging files.
• Manage prototype equipment inventories at on and offsite storage facilities.
• Ensure engine, aftertreatment hardware is ready for each test and support test cell operations.
• Investigate test data for quality and identify hardware/software issues.
• Troubleshoot test cell issues and provide short- and long-term solutions.
• Gain hands-on testing experience in a test engineering environment with formal and informal training.
