Job description

What will I be doing?

Reporting to your regional Landfill Energy Operations Manager, the main purpose of the role is to:

1. Support the day-to-day operations of open and closed landfills within your regional landfill energy cluster (medium-sized geographical area).
2. Supervise daily landfill energy operations, restoration projects, gas management and generation, and leachate treatment plants (LTPs).
3. Focus on achieving specified KPIs to drive efficiency in line with operational and budget provisions.

What are the requirements?

Ideally, you would:

1. Have knowledge of landfill site operations and aftercare.
2. Possess experience and/or knowledge of site control infrastructure within a landfill, e.g., landfill gas engines/controls, leachate treatment plants, extraction pipework, pumps for gas, leachate, and water.
3. Be able to manage contractors and tenants.
4. Hold relevant health and safety qualifications, with IOSH desirable.
5. Have experience supervising mobile plant or using appropriate equipment.
6. Be capable of supervising contractors delivering restoration materials.
7. Be able to supervise landfill energy technical maintenance contractors and suppliers.
8. Have experience managing aftercare activities and long-term land management.
9. Be able to identify and act upon routine maintenance of landfill control equipment.
10. Be prepared to respond to out-of-hours emergencies and be included in an emergency call-out rota.
11. Have a track record of delivering against financial targets and KPIs, with experience in financial planning, budgeting, and capital improvements.
12. Understand the importance of operating in a compliant manner.
13. Additional training will be provided to ensure full competence in managing the above responsibilities.
