About the Role:

As a Motive Automotive Service Technician, you will be a key member of the Connected Devices/Hardware team. You should be a technologist and resourceful problem solver with a deep understanding of Motive Hardware, automotive networking technologies, protocols, and installation practices. You will serve as a role model for hardware knowledge and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will be a Computer Electronics expert passionate about hardware and automotive technology, comfortable owning challenges, and hands-on with customer deployments. This role involves installation, connectivity, and feature quality assurance of telematics devices in vehicles, creating technical training content, troubleshooting vehicle connectivity issues, and collaborating with the telematics team. Automotive or logistics experience is a plus. Candidates should be independent workers eager to work with cutting-edge technology. Travel is expected 30-40% of the time.

What You'll Do:
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on Motive Hardware, Software, and Debugging tools.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on Motive Telematics solutions and deployment practices.
  • Provide onsite support for installation, troubleshooting, QA, and support of implementations.
  • Increase telematics coverage through relationship management and outreach.
  • Develop and deliver installation training and certification programs.
  • Train internal teams and third-party partners on installation standards.
  • Maintain an online help center with resources and guides.
  • Ensure onsite safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve products and processes.
  • Manage escalated technical issues to ensure positive outcomes.
What We're Looking For:
  • 5+ years relevant experience or a Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years experience/certification.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong proficiency in computer electronics and hardware.
  • Expertise in vehicle architecture, embedded systems, and CAN bus protocols.
  • Experience with vehicle diagnostics (OBD-II, J1939) and communication standards.
  • Knowledge of legacy vehicle communication systems.
  • Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and customer-facing confidence.
  • Familiarity with automotive telematics and logistics industry is a plus.
  • Ability to script in Python, Bash, or SQL.
