Job summary

Academics is assisting a wonderful Primary School in Wandsworth to recruit a part-time After School Childcare Assistant. The role runs Monday to Friday, 3.30–6.30, during term-time, with a fixed term for the 2026/27 academic year and potential extension.

You will care for children from Reception through to 11 years old, ensuring a safe, engaging after-school club experience and promoting social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play.

Qualifications

• LEVEL 3 Early Years/Childcare or equivalent qualification required.
• Experience with children aged 4–11 preferred.
• Must have energy, enthusiasm and a positive approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide after-school care in a safe, stimulating environment.
• Support children's social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play.
• Deliver both 1:1 and small-group supervision.

This After School Childcare Assistant / Teaching Assistant role would be perfect for someone who is looking for part time work in an outstanding school setting. The after-school club caters for children from Reception through to 11 years old and is in a brilliant location with excellent public transport links and school parking available.

This After School Childcare Assistant will see you working with their youngest children providing afterschool care. Your role will be to maintain a safe and stimulating play environment and work 121 and in small groups creating opportunities to encourage children's social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play. You will need plenty of energy and enthusiasm to ensure children have a brilliant time at afterschool club and get the best out of the wide range of extracurricular options this fantastic school has to offer.

The role is offered as a fixed term contract for the Academic years and can be extended depending on the successful After School Childcare Assistant's preferences.
