Job summary

Morson Edge in West Midlands is seeking a Tooling Engineer to design, develop, and optimise tooling systems for aerospace manufacturing. The role requires a systematic approach to ensure tooling solutions meet quality, safety, and performance standards while supporting production teams.

You will work on fixtures, drawings, supplier liaison, and on-site tooling validation, with opportunities to apply CAD skills, lean practices, and continuous improvement across complex manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of aerospace tooling requirements and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency with CAD software and engineering analysis tools.
• Familiarity with quality assurance principles and aerospace standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tooling equipment and fixtures per aerospace standards and customer specs.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new tooling projects.
• Collaborate with production and quality to resolve tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
• Modify and improve existing tooling for reliability and efficiency.
• Prepare technical documentation including drawings, specs and validation reports.
• Ensure tooling designs comply with health and safety legislation and company policies.
• Support testing and validation of tooling prototypes and analyse results.
• Liaise with suppliers to source materials and services for tooling manufacture and maintenance.
• Maintain records of tooling assets, schedules and maintenance activities.
• Provide technical training to manufacturing personnel on tooling usage.
