Averna powered by Spherea is a global engineering and technology business delivering test, quality and validation solutions for complex, safety-critical products. This engineering software role develops software for test systems, interacting with instrumentation and data acquisition hardware across the product lifecycle from requirements to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in software engineering, computer science or related discipline.
• Experience developing software for engineering, industrial, scientific or equipment-based applications.
• Experience with at least one relevant language or environment such as C/C++, C#, LabVIEW, TestStand or Python.
• Understanding of software architecture and structured design; debugging and testing in engineering environments.
• Familiarity with source control, configuration management, and software test evidence.
• Experience across the software development lifecycle from requirements to release.
• Ability to manage work, report progress, and adapt to different technologies.
• Willingness to work with engineers and equipment and travel in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Analyse system and software requirements and contribute to architecture and design; develop software for automated and manual test, measurement, simulation and control apps.
• Produce maintainable, documented code and develop test sequences, interfaces, data-processing functions and reports.
• Integrate software with instrumentation, data-acquisition hardware, switching systems and units under test; implement error handling and logging.
• Reuse frameworks and extend or migrate software for existing test systems.
• Participate in lifecycle activities from requirements through commissioning and support.
• Contribute to technical reviews and produce plans, specifications and test evidence; maintain traceability.
• Estimate software effort and identify risks and constraints; assess readiness for integration and customer acceptance.
• Apply source control, release and change-management practices; contribute to safety and cybersecurity activities.
• Define and perform unit, integration and system testing; debug in lab and production environments.
