Team Jobs - Strategic Accounts in Yeovil, Somerset is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading aerospace engineering organisation. You will design and develop mechanical systems, create drawings, and support manufacture in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 2+ years in mechanical design, 3D CAD (Siemens NX), tolerance analysis, and collaboration with Production Engineering. This long-term contract offers challenging projects and a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in mechanical design, ideally involving precision components.
• Experience using 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX.
• Competent in both 2D and 3D CAD.
• Basic understanding of Configuration Control.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Understanding of machining, manufacturing techniques and design for manufacture principles.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills with a customer-focused and results-driven approach.

Responsabilités

• Develop concept designs supported by engineering analysis.
• Produce detailed mechanical designs using 2D and 3D CAD.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, drawing packs, and supporting documentation.
• Carry out tolerance analysis and process engineering changes.
• Liaise with Production Engineering and Production Planning to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture.
• Deliver engineering projects in line with agreed schedules and project milestones.
• Work in accordance with engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.
