Job summary

THOMAS Professional in Bristol is seeking an experienced Aerospace Manual Machine Setter/Operator to join a precision engineering manufacturer. You will set and operate thread rolling machinery and support manual equipment to produce aerospace components to tight tolerances.

Training will cover the specialist thread rolling process, with emphasis on manufacturing quality, inspection and process documentation. Rotating double day shifts and career development available.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating manual engineering machinery.
• Experience in precision aerospace/manufacturing environment.
• Strong engineering inspection experience.
• Proficient with shadowgraphs or profile projectors.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Experience working to tight tolerances.
• Proficient with micrometers, verniers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Willingness to learn a specialist thread rolling process.
• Flexibility to work a rotating double day shift.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate specialist thread rolling machines.
• Set and operate supporting manual machinery.
• Complete machine set-ups, tooling changes and adjustments.
• Manufacture precision aerospace components to specification.
• Read and work from engineering drawings.
• Carry out first-off and in-process inspection.
• Inspect components using shadowgraphs and precision measuring equipment.
• Cut and prepare shadowgraph profiles as required.
• Monitor component quality and make necessary machine adjustments.
• Complete production and inspection documentation accurately.
• Carry out routine maintenance in accordance with TPM procedures.
• Maintain high housekeeping and FOD-prevention standards.
• Follow company quality, health and safety procedures.
• Work independently and as part of the wider production team.

Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Shift: Rotating Double Day Shift

We are recruiting for an experienced Aerospace Manual Machine Setter/Operator to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer in Bristol.

The successful candidate will be trained to set and operate specialist thread rolling machinery used in the manufacture of high-quality aerospace components. Previous thread rolling experience is not required. We are looking for someone with strong manual machine-setting and engineering inspection experience who is confident working to tight tolerances.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience setting and operating manual engineering machinery
• Previous experience within precision engineering, aerospace or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment
• Strong engineering inspection experience
• Experience using shadowgraphs or profile projectors
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Experience working to tight tolerances
• Ability to use micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment
• Practical understanding of tooling and machine adjustments
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing conforming components
• Willingness to learn a specialist thread rolling process
• Flexibility to work a rotating double day shift
