Job summary

Meritus is recruiting a Skilled Aircraft Fitter in Filton on an initial 12 month contract to support existing programmes. Core hours are Monday to Thursday, with an early finish. The role requires NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in engineering and an aerospace apprenticeship.

Start date 04/10/2026. Tasks include following drawings, using power tools, and performing tasks to exacting standards. The position is inside IR35 with overtime uplift of 25% and weekend uplift of 50%.

Qualifications

• Aerospace or Engineering Full Apprenticeship required.
• NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in a recognised engineering field.
• Strong health and safety awareness with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Work from engineering instructions and understand aircraft drawings.
• Complete tasks to required standards using power tools for drilling, shimming and sealing.
• May require 1st party certification after relevant courses.
• Potentially work in confined spaces with restricted wing access.
