Job summary

GKN Aerospace's Global Technology Centre in the United Kingdom seeks a Research Engineer to advance additive manufacturing technologies and processes across the TRL 3-6 range. You will apply a structured, hands‑on approach to problem solving and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support future aerospace applications.

You will contribute to technology development programmes, manage development trials, and ensure traceability and compliance with aerospace standards while delivering

Qualifications

• Relevant accredited engineering qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Demonstrable experience in the Aerospace sector or similar regulated industry.
• Awareness of additive manufacturing technologies, materials, process development and industrialisation challenges.
• Strong problem solving and delivery‑focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of additive manufacturing technologies and aerospace requirements to support tech development.
• Support work package planning, budgeting, scheduling and delivery activities.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps, development plans and process improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate additive manufacturing operations ensuring safe execution and on‑time delivery.
• Undertake development trials and demonstrations to mature AM materials and processes.
• Ensure traceability and compliance with aerospace standards and customer requirements.
• Communicate technical results through reports and presentations.
