Job summary

GKN Aerospace seeks a Senior Research Engineer – Composites Process Manufacturing to drive advanced composite manufacturing for current and future wing applications. You will lead cross-functional workstreams, manage budgets and schedules, and deliver high-quality documentation while enabling industrialisation.

A strong hands-on background in aerospace composites is essential. You will engage with internal and external partners, mentor teams, and shape strategies to push the boundaries of

Qualifications

• Experience with advanced composite manufacturing processes such as RTM, automated layup, and fibre placement.
• Proven delivery of composite structures with tooling concepts and forming technologies.
• Understanding of process control, repeatability and variation in manufacturing.
• Experience collaborating with tooling engineers on mould design and material deposition strategies.

Responsibilities

• Shape and deliver project strategy with cross-functional input.
• Plan and manage delivery including budgets and schedules.
• Lead development activities from testing to technical documentation.
• Drive projects toward industrialisation and real-world use.
• Engage stakeholders and partners across internal teams, customers and supply chains.
