Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust's Diagnostic Imaging Department at Yeovil Hospital is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner Sonographer to lead and independently report on a broad range of ultrasound examinations within a patient-centred service.

You will work with radiologists and obstetricians across Somerset, delivering obstetric, gynaecological and general scans, contributing to fetal anomaly screening, and supporting teaching and service improvement.

Qualifications

• Post Grad Certificate or Diploma in medical ultrasound.
• Under graduate degree in Radiography, Nursing or Midwifery.
• CASE accredited qualification in Obstetric ultrasound.
• CASE accredited qualification in General Medical ultrasound.
• HCPC or NMC registration.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform and report a wide range of ultrasound examinations.
• Undertake obstetric, gynaecological and general medical ultrasound scanning.
• Contribute to fetal anomaly screening services.
• Communicate complex and sensitive information to patients with empathy and professionalism.
• Provide specialist advice to clinicians regarding imaging findings and appropriate investigations.
• Support the day-to-day running of the ultrasound service.
• Participate in teaching, mentoring and supervision of students and colleagues.
• Support service improvement, audit activities and departmental development.
• Participate in weekend and Bank Holiday ultrasound services as required.
