Job summary

Navantia UK is recruiting for a full-time, permanent Steel Fabricator role based in the UK. The job involves manual or machine fabrication of structural steel components for naval and marine projects, with duties spanning from reading drawings to assembly in shop or dock environments.

We require safety-conscious workers with experience in heavy steel plate fabrication and the ability to pass a trade test. On-site roles include benefits such as a company pension and optional health care plans.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fabrication workplace safety requirements and good working practices.
• Demonstrable experience of heavy steel plate fabrication process; apprenticeship or equivalent preferred.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Understanding of quality procedures and fabrication standards.
• Basic knowledge of welding processes and ability to tack weld.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of a Safe working environment.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings.
• Set-up/mark-off work.
• Cutting and fabrication of structural steel, plate and profile sections.
• Erect, align, set and tack steel parts and assemblies in shops or dock environment.
• Working of steel fabrication machinery and shop cranes.
• Hand burning using oxyfuel equipment.
