Job description

Lead Social Worker | Mental Health | Clear Career Progression

Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for the next step in your career? Do you want to be part of a supportive team, where you can develop your leadership skills and make a real impact on individuals with complex mental health needs?

This role offers a hybrid working approach, with flexible working 2-3 days WFH per week depending on service need. You'll also hold a very small, manageable caseload of just 8 cases.

You will also have access to weekly professional supervision and offer management support to your peers.

AMHP refresher training is also offered and there is a structured career development path in place, so you always know what the next steps are for you! There is also huge opportunity for you to influence care pathways and service improvements.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a lead role within a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), providing supervision and expert guidance to Social Workers, Support Workers, and Support Planners.

Why This Role?

  • Clear Career Progression: Support to develop as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) and Best Interest Assessor (BIA), with paid training opportunities.
  • Flexible Working: Enjoy 2-3 days working from home per week for a better work-life balance.
  • Small Caseload: Manage a caseload of just 8 cases, allowing you to provide in-depth, high-quality support.
  • Ongoing CPD & Training: BIA training, Practice Educator training, opportunities to support student placements, ASYE support, and Social Work progression pathways.
  • Supportive Team Environment: Work alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative and inclusive setting.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Best Interest Assessor qualification (or willingness to train and participate in the BIA rota).
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007), Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Experience of working with adults with severe mental health needs, managing complex risk, and making decisions in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience in a supervisory role, working with multiple partners, and implementing quality assurance measures.

To apply, you’ll need a Social Work Qualification and be registered with SWE.
