Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to lead social work teams across Northumberland, applying Signs of Safety to safeguard children. You will support line managers, manage caseloads, and contribute to skill development within a flexible, family‑centred environment.

The role emphasises professional growth, leadership, and a commitment to flexible working arrangements within Northumberland’s Childrens Services. Eligible for a comprehensive pension and generous leave.

Qualifications

  • Qualified social worker with registration and current practice knowledge.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child welfare required.
  • Ability to manage caseload and provide supervisory support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the social work team using Signs of Safety framework.
  • Manage a caseload of children and families in need or in crisis.
  • Provide guidance to line managers and contribute to skill development of team.

The role of Advanced Practitioner is to lead the way, role model good practice and offer guidance and support to the social work team in working with children and families in need and in crisis. We are looking for a social worker with a passion for safeguarding children who can manage case load whilst offering support to their line manager, a real opportunity to develop your social work skills further!
