Job summary

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Charity is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Regional Paediatric Hands and Upper Limb Service as a Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist.

You will provide highly specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for children and young people with traumatic hand injuries, congenital hand differences and other complex upper limb conditions.

Qualifications

• Qualified Occupational Therapist with NHS band 7 level experience.
• Experience in paediatric hand/upper limb conditions.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in clinical assessment and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a specialist caseload of children and young people with hand and upper limb conditions.
• Deliver advanced occupational therapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
• Provide specialist hand therapy interventions, including splinting and orthotic management.
• Collaborate with consultant surgeons, therapists, nurses and the MDT.
• Support families to achieve functional goals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Regional Paediatric Hands and Upper Limb Service as a Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist. The post holder will provide highly specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for children and young people with traumatic hand injuries, congenital hand differences and other complex upper limb conditions.

Working within a specialist multidisciplinary team, the post holder will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and contributing to the ongoing development of a regional tertiary service.

Main duties of the job

• Manage a specialist caseload of children and young people with hand and upper limb conditions.
• Deliver advanced occupational therapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programmes.Provide specialist hand therapy interventions, including splinting, orthotic management and functional rehabilitation.
• Work collaboratively with consultant surgeons, therapists, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Support children, young people and families to achieve meaningful functional goals and maximise participation in daily activities.
• Contribute to service development, audit, quality improvement and education activities.
