Job summary

Crux Product Design in Bristol, UK is seeking an Advanced Human Factors Engineer to lead usability work across medical device programs. You will plan, run and report on studies, ensuring user needs are integrated early and throughout development to support safe, usable products.

You will collaborate with internal project teams and global clients, apply IEC62366 and FDA guidelines, and help advance Crux's in-house human factors capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience applying a range of Human Factors techniques.
  • Understanding of medical device HF standards (IEC62366, FDA).
  • Ability to evaluate and improve designs using usability insights.
  • Skilled in moderating user research and easing participants.
  • Data capture and analysis experience.
  • Ability to distil information into design recommendations.
  • Strong report writing.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Able to work in team or independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks.
  • Flexible and accommodating.
  • First or 2:1 in degree.
  • DBS check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate planning and timely delivery of usability and Human Factors activities.
  • Ensuring user needs are identified and met through the integration of usability in product development.
  • Analysing data to generate tangible and feasible design solutions that improve usability and reduce use-related risk.
  • Liaising with external suppliers to enable efficient execution of Human Factors studies.
  • Producing clear, concise written reports and presentations.
  • Formulating and executing of a design and usability strategy to meet client objectives.
  • Presenting ideas to colleagues and clients with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Promoting awareness of usability within the business and helping Crux's growing in-house capabilities.
  • Building trusted relationships within existing client accounts and pursuing opportunities.
  • Preparing and advising on small quotes.
  • Support Crux’s continual development, improving processes and procedures.
