We operate twenty-six state-of-the-art elective and emergency theatres across various specialties:

  • Complex ENT
  • Reconstructive Orthopaedics
  • Complex Vascular Surgery
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (specialising in post-trauma reconstruction)
  • Neonatal Surgery
  • Complex Orthopaedics
  • Shared Airway ENT
  • Ophthalmic Surgery with paediatric expertise for the Major Trauma service in South East England

Main duties of the job

As a senior ODP/Anaesthetic Practitioner, you will assist Anaesthetists in providing safe care both in the theatre setting and in outlying areas such as Imaging suites and the Emergency Department. You should be proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented to maintain our high standards of care. We will provide comprehensive training in Trauma, Neonates, and advanced airway techniques to enhance your skills for our demanding environment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will oversee the department's operations efficiently, including budget management, clinical governance, staff development, and training.

You will provide professional leadership, guiding and inspiring the multidisciplinary team. You will be involved in developing protocols, guidelines, and patient information materials.

Person specification

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • BSc/First degree (health-related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
  • Intermediate Life Support Provider certification
  • RN1/RN2 or RN12 Registered Nurse with the NMC or Operating Department Practitioner with the HCPC, appropriate to the speciality
  • An Aagbi-recognised degree in anaesthetic training
