Job summary

Cheshire College South & West is seeking a dedicated Progress Mentor to support adult learners across Crewe campuses. You will mentor a caseload, provide pastoral support, and help learners access development resources to promote progression and success in their studies.

The role requires Level 3 qualification (or equivalent), GCSE English and Maths, and experience working with adults in mentorship or supportive roles. DBS check is required and some evening work may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
• GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths (or equivalent)
• Proven experience of mentoring or supporting adults
• Knowledge of barriers faced by adult learners and how to address them
• Experience handling pastoral/welfare issues and wellbeing concerns
• Ability to set targets, monitor progress and review
• Ability to work independently including some evenings
• Excellent organisational and digital literacy skills
• Enhanced DBS check required

Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship and pastoral support to adult learners to foster belonging and resilience
• Support learners with interventions to sustain wellbeing
• Help learners access online Personal Development resources (Skills, Employability, British Values, Equality and Diversity, PREVENT)
• Meet with managers to discuss pastoral issues and signpost to specialist services as needed
• Use systems to monitor attendance and resolve issues
• Assist with applications to further/higher education with teaching staff to collate references
