Job summary

Central YMCA in Greater Manchester is seeking a Learner Support Mentor to join our dedicated team. This role focuses on pastoral and tutorial support for learners, with 40 hours per week and a permanent contract.

You will build relationships with referral agencies, schools and local authorities to attract learners, provide progression paths into further education or apprenticeships, and support attendance, behaviour, and achievement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with young people.
• Advice and Guidance Level 3 or above and/or a relevant learning support qualification.
• Maths and English qualifications at level 2 or above.
• Ability to resolve conflict positively and make objective judgements.
• Experience of managing challenging behaviour.
• Experience of mentoring/coaching young people and/or adults to achieve education and training success.

Responsibilities

• Create mechanisms to build relationships with referral agencies, schools, local authorities & external partners to support recruitment.
• Develop and maintain networks to attract learners and provide progression routes into education or apprenticeships.
• Provide pastoral and tutorial support within the organisation's framework for individual learner support, progress and achievement.
• Provide timely interventions to improve attendance, behaviour, success and progression.
