Job summary

Hartford Care is seeking an Adult & Dementia Care Trainer to join our Learning & Development team. You’ll be out and about across Hartford Care, meeting teams, sharing knowledge and helping people feel more capable every day.

This field-based role covers Midlands, North of England and North Wales, delivering induction, core care training and development sessions across a range of care environments. Office days in Dudley support LMS and data needs.

Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of adult social care, including dementia and mental health, is preferred.
• Formal trainer experience is desirable, but strong communication and people skills matter.
• Level 3 Education & Training or willingness to work towards it.

Responsibilities

• Deliver induction, core care training, refresher training and development sessions.
• Travel between Hartford Care locations to deliver training across the Midlands, North of England and North Wales.
• Keep training records and update the LMS; support Home Managers with learning data.
• Engage learners with practical, age-appropriate training and adapt to different groups.

Job description

We’re looking for an Adult & Dementia Care Trainer to join our Learning & Development team. Someone who knows that great care starts with great people, and great learning can make a huge difference to both.

You’ll be out and about across Hartford Care, meeting our teams, sharing your knowledge, challenging thinking, building confidence and helping people feel genuinely more capable in the work they do every day.

So, what will you actually be doing?

You’ll be part of our L&D team, reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, supporting different locations across the Midlands, North of England and North Wales, delivering learning across a really varied range of care environments.

• Dementia and age-related conditions
• Learning disabilities
• Mental health needs
• Acute brain injury

You’ll deliver a mixture of induction, core care training, refresher training and development sessions, using different approaches depending on what our people actually need, from engaging face-to-face sessions to blended learning, online support and practical activities.

You’ll Also

• Make training engaging, practical and relevant to the people sitting in front of you.
• Build confidence in new and experienced colleagues alike.
• Work closely with Home Managers and teams to understand where learning can make a real difference.
• Support our homes with outstanding training, helping managers understand what the data is telling us and what we can do about it.
• Keep learning records and our LMS up to date, although admin will be very little part of the job!
• Contribute ideas to make our learning offer better, more creative and more useful.
• Become one of those people our teams know they can call when they need help, advice or a bit of inspiration.

We're Looking For Someone Who...

• Knows care.

You’ll have experience and knowledge of adult social care, and ideally some experience of working with dementia and Learning disabilities, mental health or acquired brain injury, you don’t have to be a specialist in all of them - just know the basics and want to grow further!

• Can make learning come alive.

You don't need to be a professional trainer already, formal training experience is desirable, but we're much more interested in your ability to communicate, connect with people and help others learn.

You might be an experienced carer, senior carer, nurse, team leader or someone who has naturally found themselves becoming the person everyone goes to when they need to know how something works. We can provide all formal required training to you as part of your development.

• Is comfortable in a room full of people.

You'll need the confidence to stand in front of different groups, from brand-new starters to experienced care professionals, and adapt your approach to suit them.

We're looking for someone friendly, approachable and professional, someone who can bring energy to a room without needing to be the loudest person in it.

• Likes doing things differently.

Where will you be?

This is a field-based role, with office/ admin days in our Dudley office, so you'll be travelling between our homes across Wolverhampton, Bilston, Walsall, Dudley, Rochdale and occasionally North Wales.

There will be travel involved, so you'll need a full driving licence, access to a car and business car insurance.

• Level 3 Education & Training (or a willingness to work towards it).
• Experience and knowledge of adult social care, mental health, learning disabilities and/or acquired brain injury.
• A genuine interest in helping people develop and succeed.
• Confidence communicating with different people and groups.
• A positive, practical and “let's figure it out” attitude.
