Job summary

Acorn Training Ltd is seeking a Health and Social Care Tutor to deliver high-quality, face-to-face learning for adult learners in South Yorkshire. You will develop core competencies, raise aspirations, and support progression into sustainable employment within the adult care sector.

The role requires minimum Level 3 teaching qualification and a strong Health and Social Care background, plus a full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning sessions aligned with the adult care curriculum and standards
• Deliver classroom-based training in areas such as person-centred care, safeguarding, infection control, and handling
• Assess learner knowledge and competence; provide feedback and set improvement goals
• Adapt delivery to diverse learners, including those returning to learning or entering care
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment to boost confidence and participation
• Support learners in developing professional behaviours and transferable skills valued by employers
• Monitor attendance, progress, and achievements with accurate records
• Guide learners toward employment, further training or qualifications
• Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to maintain high-quality delivery

As a Health and Social Care Tutor, you will deliver high-quality, face-to-face learning programmes that prepare adult learners for careers in the adult social care sector. Key Responsibilities and Key Performance Indicators

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and practical learning sessions aligned with the adult care curriculum and industry standards
• Deliver classroom-based training in key areas such as person-centred care, safeguarding, infection control, moving and handling, communication, and workplace behaviours
• Assess learner knowledge and practical competence through observation, written work, and discussions, providing constructive feedback and setting goals for improvement
• Adapt delivery to meet the needs of a diverse learner cohort, including those returning to learning or entering the care sector for the first time
• Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment that supports learner confidence and participation
• Support learners in developing the behaviours, attitudes, and transferable skills valued by employers (e.g., professionalism, resilience, teamwork)
• Monitor learner attendance, progress, and achievements, maintaining accurate and timely records in line with quality assurance standards
• Guide learners toward employment, further training, or qualifications, supporting their transition into or progression within the adult care sector
• Collaborate with internal colleagues and external partners to maintain high-quality delivery and learner support
• Keep up to date with developments in the adult care sector and relevant educational practices to ensure effective and current delivery

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Qualifications and specific training

• Minimum Level 3 teaching learning and assessment qualification, such as AET or PTLLS (essential)

• Experience in curriculum development and educational material creation (desirable)
