Job summary

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking an Adoption Support Social Worker to oversee adoption support arrangements and prepare sensitive reports for families. The role requires registration as a social worker with experience in adoption and working across the North Wales region.

The post involves 37 hours per week with a hybrid working pattern across six North Wales Local Authorities. An Enhanced DBS check and Social Care Wales registration are essential.

About the Role

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this position. 37 hours per week. Hybrid (working across all 6 North Wales Local Authorities). North Wales Adoption Service is a highly successful and innovative service providing quality services to children requiring adoptive placements. This is an exciting time to join the North Wales Adoption Service as we are in the process of expanding and developing the range of services we provide to adoptive families. We are keen to receive applications from experienced registered social workers who have experience of working in the field of adoption. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing adoption support arrangements to include access to birth records, Intermediary Services, Adoptive Families, Birth Parent and Adopted Adults support. The role involves, preparing adoption reports from historical files and sharing sensitively with families who have experience of adoption, undertaking detailed adoption support assessments and reviewing plans for children and young people identifying their adoption support needs, liaising with other local authorities and adoption support agencies, providing information and advice to birth families and adoptive families; offering specialist advice and support to professionals and developing adoption support services. We have a career grade for social workers where based on specialist awards/qualifications or evidenced equivalent skills, knowledge and experience, a successful candidate can be appointed as either Social Worker (G09) or Experienced Social Worker (G10). Don't worry if you don't currently meet the criteria/ equivalent experience requirements for the Experienced Social Worker role.
