Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking an Administrator to support the Health in Justice team. You will be the first point of contact for the healthcare team, handling emails, calls and routine admin duties while coordinating referrals, appointments and bed watch in external hospitals.

You will work with the Patient Engagement Lead on patient release and transfer, support on wings for inmate healthcare queries and contribute to inductions and minute taking.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in an admin-based role with email, calls and general admin duties.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is beneficial; familiarity with SystmOne or EMIS is a plus.
  • Experience updating patient records in a system is desirable.
  • GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emails and act as a first point of contact for the healthcare team.
  • Arrange and chase referrals and appointments, coordinating external hospital appointments.
  • Assist with release and transfer of patients and follow-on care and medications.
  • Support on wings with inmate administration and healthcare queries.
  • Conduct group inductions for new inmates and take minutes as needed.

Job description

As our new Administrator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Being the first point of call for the healthcare team, you will respond to emails (Practice Plus Group and NHS), receive and make calls, as well as general admin duties,
  • Arrange and chase referrals and appointments (internal and external), coordinating external hospital appointments alongside the wider prison team, coordinating bed watch in external hospitals, arranging escorts for external appointments etc
  • Working alongside the Patient Engagement Lead, assist with the release and transfer of patients (including follow on care and medication) and much more!
  • Work on the wings for drop in sessions regularly, acting as the admin contact for prisoners and helping them with any healthcare queries, applications or issues
  • Carry out group inductions with new inmates, explaining more about the healthcare service
  • Minute take as necessary

Hours: This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00. We will consider part time hours within this timeframe. Salary: This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £28,575 - depending on experience. Interviews will be held on 10th September 2026.
